Sometimes our characters lead us in a direction we never knew we’d travel. But how do you find inspiration in this new found chapter? Well, you do my favorite thing, watch.
In discussing topics to write about with my husband, he offered me the topic of finding inspiration in not so common places or situations. His example is outstanding and simple, so allow me to share it with you.
“Its like going to a strip club to observe how men truly react and spark more detail.”
I married a genius!
I am a people watcher myself. Taking in others mannerisms, and the settings that may cause that person to act a certain way, and next thing I know I have a new character in mind. Or even a brand new book idea just from soaking in the world around me.
What does this mean for you?
Well, if you find yourself stuck, and need a new point of view simply step outside your comfort zone. If the main character is a bad guy, a bar or club would be a likely hangout and may put you in a better prespective of the characters life. This gives you a more in depth to add to your manuscript and emerse the reader further into your work.
GENIUS! Even when I do slow shows, I gather enough quirks from the passerby (NO, I don’t mean YOU!) to fuel a whole bunch of stories. Great blog!

I used to write stories off of snippets of overheard conversations back on MySpace, LOL! That’s been a minute, though.
